The tongue performs significant functions n the oral preparatory oral transit and pharyngeal phases of swallowing. Besides oral processing ad propulsion, the tongue is the primary propulsive force in moving food and liquid through the pharynx. The Role of the Oral Muscular in Swallowing and the Therapeutic Benefits of IOPI will review the oral musculature and its essential functions. In addition, the course covers exercise principles and how IOPI can be integrated into a treatment plan. Ed Bice will guide you through this presentation and review how IOPI Medical can aid in your myofunctional needs.

Ed Bice is currently a Clinical Consultant for IOPI Medical. His clinical experience includes acute care, outpatient, home health, and skilled nursing. He has held leadership positions such as a Regional Manager, VP of Clinical Services, and COO. Ed has been a guest on national and international dysphagia podcasts, written blogs concerning dysphagia-related topics, and published in peer-reviewed journals. He is adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland and East Tennessee State University. Ed is the co-developer of Appalachian-Zenith Training and Education Courses (A-ZTEC).
