Our Simon Says Live Online Myofunctional Certification is designed to teach the identification, assessment and diagnosis of myofunctional disorders and implementation of myofunctional therapy using evidence based practice. Participants will be instructed in treatment strategies appropriate for clients with orofacial myofunctional disorders as well as be trained & certified in the three Simon Says OMT Programs: Tongue Tips: An OMT Program for 8+, Tiny Tongue Tips: An Early Intervention OMT Program, and Thumbs Up!: A 30 Day Oral Habit Elimination Program

Learner Outcomes

  • Define orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) and discuss their effect on growth and development 
  • Describe the anatomy and physiology of the orofacial musculature
  • ​​Identify appropriate assessment tools and develop an appropriate individualized treatment plan
  • ​​List and describe practical treatment strategies and oral-motor/myofunctional interventions
  • ​​Identify members of an interdisciplinary myofunctional team and describe their role in implentation of a treatment program
  • ​​Implement the Simon Says' Tongue Tips Program into an SLPs caseload
  • ​Provide pre & post frenectomy exercises and strategies to clients
  • Recognize underlying issues that may cause relapse and create a maintenance program for their client
  • ​Implement sleeping, swallowing, and breathing activities to increase client's success in program
  • ​​Provide a full OMT evaluation using the Simon Says OMT Evaluation & Interdisciplinary Evaluation for Adults
  • ​​Implement Simon Says' Tiny Tongue Tips Program into an SLPs caseload
  • Provide a full early intervention OMT evaluation using Simon Says Tiny Tongue Tips Evaluation & Interdisciplinary Evaluation for Adolescents
  • Master & Implement exercises/games used in each section of the Tiny Tongue Tips program: Warm Up Time, Breathing Time, Mouth Time, Talking Time, Sip & Snack Time
  • ​​Implement Simon Says Thumbs Up! Program into an SLPs caseload and strategies to breaking an oral habit using positive reinforcement & rewards
  • Create a positive & fun environment for client to feel comfortable speaking with SLP and targeting habits that may cause sucking
