If you're an SLP working in or exploring myofunctional therapy, you already know—it’s not just a skill set, it’s a mindset. But in a world of client demands, continuing education, and the pressure to grow a practice, balance can feel…impossible.
Let’s talk about what it really means to build a fulfilling career in myo without burning out.
Here’s the truth: burnout isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s subtle—feeling disconnected, questioning your value, or just going through the motions. That’s why building a sustainable mindset matters as much as building clinical skills.
Start by clarifying your why. Why did you pursue myo in the first place? What parts of your work bring you joy? Center those when planning your schedule, your services, or your next CEU.
Next, create supportive systems. Block work time and rest time. Batch your admin. Automate what you can. You don’t have to be superhuman—you just need structure that works for you.
Finally, embrace imperfection. Not every post needs to go viral. Not every client needs to be a full transformation. Growth happens in seasons—and rest is productive.
Whether you’re building a side hustle, running a full-time practice, or just starting to explore the myo world, this post is a reset button for the SLP trying to do it all.
Simon Says Speech is here to support the growth of your career and your capacity. Our tools, trainings, and programs are built for real SLPs with real lives.
